Moths are a diverse category of insects with over 16000 identified species. They are members of order lepidoptera, which also includes butterflies. In the region where I live, moths can be spotted in the monsoon season. Moths are often considered as pests and don't get the same attention that butterflies get, but I think they are just as intriguing the butterflies. One difference between moths and butterflies is that moths make a cocoon in which they form the chrysalis; butterflies don't make cocoons, only a chrysalis. The silk is made from cocoons of silk moth, not chrysalis.
